Fiji has been selected as a mentoring organization for the Google Summer of Code program. The program encourages undergraduate and graduate students to propose a software project and fulfill it with the help of a designated mentor. The projects span exactly 3 months and provide a stipend for the student.

The 17th International Workshop on Nonlinear Dynamics of Electronic Systems (NDES 2009) will be held June 21-24, 2009, on the campus of the Technical University of Applied Sciences HSR in Rapperswil, Switzerland.

We have used analog VLSI vision sensors (also designed and built here at INI) to build a robot that can balance a pencil using only spike based visual input, inspired by the form of information processing used in the retina.

The INI recently developed a vision sensor device called the Dynamic Vision Sensor that has opened new application areas that will benefit Swiss industry. This forum will introduce participants to these new technologies and enable partnership developments.

The Telluride Neuromorphic Cognition Engineering workshop, originally co-ordinated by the INI, focuses on neuromorphic engineering. The goal is to bring together young investigators and more established researchers from academia.

This workshop is dedicated to the 60th birthday of L.A. Bunimovich and C. Grebogi. It is organized by R. Stoop, H. Herrmann, S. Boccaletti, B. Kappen, J. Kurths and S. Stramaglia.

Together with a Europe-wide consortium of institutes, we are examining the structure and function of the Daisy Architecture — a lattice of axonal connections within cortex.
