The Institute of Neuroinformatics, along with a consortium of several other research groups across Europe, was awarded a four-year grant in the EUSeventh Research Framework programmeFuture and Emerging Technologies scheme.
SECO (short for Self Construction) proposes methods for designing and implementing self-constructing systems. We have begun by examining existing self constructing systems such as mammalian neocortex, and are moving towards a theoretical framework for abstract specification of arbitrary self-constructing systems.
Visit the SECO project home page (http://www.seco-project.eu/) for more information.
CX3D, a tool for simulating the growth of cortex in 3D is being developed as part of the SECO project.
